The Cat House, The Feline Conservation Center

The Exotic Feline Breeding Compound’s Feline Conservation Center in Rosamond is home to over 70 of the world’s most endangered felines. Cat lovers of all ages who discover this desert zoo/wildlife museum will be surprised and amazed at the variety of wild cat species found here. The Cat HouseFounded in 1977, this breeding and research facility is a non-profit organization which runs entirely on public donations. Here is your chance to visit this wonderful facility dedicated to the protection and preservation of endangered felines. Three times a year, special evening open houses are held. These "Twilight Tours" are the only time the compound is open in the evening, when the cats are much more active, and feeding occurs. Visitors can wander around parts of the compound that are not open to the public during the day. There will be time on your own to visit the bake sale sponsored by the American Association of Zookeepers chapter, participate in a raffle, and partake in the barbeque presented by the Rotary club. Other surprises await, such as goldfish in the fishing cat ponds, watermelons for the tigers, cubs out on leashes. You will have many opportunities to see, hear, and photograph the cats. Bring a camera, a jacket as the evening may be cool. Doors open at 5:00 pm and stay open until dark. Note: Minimum age for Twilight Tours is 18.

Castillo Isabella and Boutique Winery Tour

Benedict Castle, the jewel of the Inland Empire, has been officially designated as the City of Riverside, California Cultural Heritage Landmark, Number Thirteen. Charles Benedict began construction on this unusual castle in 1921 and completed it in 1931. It was initially called Castillo Isabella, named after his mother, but is now more widely known as Castle Castillo IsabellaBenedict. Patterned after the Alhambra in Spain, its architecture is typical 18th century Spanish Moorish and Mission Revival. The glazed grillwork is imported from China, the marble from Italy and the open wooden beams in the main hall hail from the Black Forest region of Germany. Adjacent to Torre Louisa, the castle's 90ft. tower, the rooftop provides a grand view of Riverside and it can be climbed via a winding staircase. Other interesting features include a five hundred year old tile floor from a monastery in Mexico, and a secret passageway behind a china cabinet that leads to an underground room. This location is so unique, it has been used as the setting for several movies over the years, including the Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Bride of Frankenstein, and Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein. Our tour also includes lunch at a mystery location. Afterwards, we will stop at a local boutique winery where you may sample wines, and have the opportunity to bottle your very own wine. Add a personalized label and you will have a special souvenir to enjoy and share with friends. So join us for an unforgettable experience to this one-of-a-kind destination.

In addition to lights, many of Newport Beach Annual Christmas Boat Paradethe boats will be richly decorated with animated Christmas scenes.
